More than half of Echo users have bought something on their device, and about 30% of those customers buy something at least once per week, according to a survey of 300 device users by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners LLC. Voice-controlled ordering is a small but quickly growing share of online sales, analysts tell the Journal, and one of the top reasons to use Amazon’s virtual assistant, Alexa, and its Echo speakers. The move signals increased importance of voice-enabled shopping, an area where Google and Wal-Mart may need each others’ help to compete against Amazon.
